Job Overview

The Director Operations Excellence is responsible for implementing operating best practices throughout Crossbridge’ s operating sites. This person will be responsible for driving performance improvement and consistency in the areas of safe work practices (Permit to Work, Energy Isolation / LOTO, management of high-risk activities (flare openings, hot taps, etc.)), cultural adherence to Process Safety Fundamentals (ex. Walk the Line), operator qualification and training, Operating Procedure Management, Mitigate Threats to Availability (MTA), Ensure Safe Production (management of operating limits, alarm management, monitor/control conditions cadence, operator communication/shift turnover structure), and other related areas. The role will initially involve an extended 6 month to 1-year secondment at the Fredericia Refinery addressing identified performance gaps followed by a transition into group oversight in the area of Operations Excellence. This position will directly coach and mentor site staff, implement corporate best practices, evaluate field effectiveness of site-specific procedures, create a culture of improvement around key performance indicators, and report to group management on efficacy of site management teams.

Primary Job Location

First 12 months Fredericia, Denmark

Thereafter location is flexible with Europe preferred. High travel required to Fredericia, Denmark and other operating sites.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for company-wide operations excellence performance

  • Implementation of corporate best practices

  • Establishment of an improvement culture with regards to key performance indicators and operations excellence

  • Own the multi-year corporate Operations Excellence strategy

  • Commission and oversee site assurance reviews

  • Coach and mentor of Site Leadership teams

  • Work Site Leadership Team to close OE gaps

Qualifications

  • BS Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or Related Sciences

  • Refining Experience (10 + years); prior background as refinery or operations management

  • Writes clearly and precisely; speaks tactfully and convincingly; listens well; shares work related information freely.

  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, confident and decisive in emergency or crisis situations

  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, in management systems and culture

  • Ability to evaluate situations, review options, and make logical and practical decisions; uses independent thought, originality, and reasoning; proficient in prioritizing work and the timely implementation of solutions to problems
